Please ensure to have a survey carried out by a Gas Safe Register registered gas installer to check and certify the compatibility of your chimney or flue with this fire before making any purchase to avoid disappointment. If you intend to install the Slimline fire into a Class 2 flue then subject to the depth you have, you may require a 3" 75mm deep rebated fire surround.
Output depends on flue-pull, diameter of flue and conditions of fireplace. Where there is insufficient depth a deep rebate surround may be required. This gas fire incorporates an oxygen depletion device in its flame supervision which cuts off the gas to the burner if oxygen levels in the room become too low. Also due to the sheer number of varying flue boxes it is not possible to know which fires are suitable until such time as the existing fire has been removed.
Note that whilst soot deposits on a gas fire are quite normal and to be expected, they will be more visible on a pebble fuel effect and or a light coloured fireback. Although we (and our Manufacturers) display some products in photographs with and without a hearth the ultimate decision of whether a hearth is required or not is that of your registered gas installer, as Building regulations and Gas Safe Register regulations may differ in areas throughout the UK.
However for the avoidance of doubt Apex would recommend that a hearth is installed. All information contained in the website is to assist in your choice of a suitable fire. This is not intended to be all the information required to install your fire.
